Name / age?
I'm Siw, and I can't believe you want to know my age!
Where do you live / ride to?
Everywhere. I live in Islington and I cycle everywhere; for work, for pleasure, everywhere. I love my bike!
What do you ride?
It's a Ridgeback Velocity.
How often do you ride?
Every day!
Helmet or no helmet?
No helmet
What's your primary reason for cycling?
I love it. I just love it, for lots and lots of reasons.
What's your least favourite aspect of cycling in London?
Dog shit! If you get it on your wheels it's just disgusting and the smell follows you around.
What's your most favourite aspect of cycling in London?
Going no-handed. Riding with your hands off is great fun.
Preferably not through the dog shit! When you're riding a bike, what do you never leave home without?
My saddle bags; let's see, what's inside? A bottle of Famous Grouse...
Nice!
...a hat, a pair of gloves, and my harmonica.
How many locks do you carry and have you ever had a bicycle stolen?
Just the one lock. I have had a bicycle stolen, I left it unlocked... by accident... It was my own fault, an opportunist thief got it.
What advice would you give an aspiring cyclist thinking of riding a bike in London for the first time?
Just get on and do it. The positives far outweigh any negatives.
Lastly, if you were Mayor of London for the day, what would you do to improve the lot of the London cyclist?
You know, Boris Johnson lives just around the corner from me, I know he's had a couple of bicycles stolen but I have seen him riding around quite a bit. If I could change things, I would increase the congestion charge to £20 and I'd have the cycle paths bigger than the road paths - the cars can have the tiny bit for once and we'll have the rest!
