Light up and win!

It's that time of year again already... the air is a little sharper, the winds a little cooler, and the days are growing increasingly shorter.  After the heady days of a busy cycling summer you might feel inclined to pack the bike away for the winter, but there's no reason at all why you can't ride right through till next spring.

In the UK's long dark winters the best piece of winter cycling 'kit' you can invest in is a great set of bike lights so that other road users can see you (and indeed so that you can see the road ahead).  If you haven't done so already it's time to break out your winter riding lights, change any faulty bulbs and get some new batteries - just last week I left work only half an hour later than usual and was shocked to find it was totally dark outside and I'd left my lights at home.  This weekend the clocks go back (conveniently coinciding with Hallowe'en - spooky!) and by next month it will be getting dark by 4PM... Everyone has opinions about the necessity of helmets, or high-vis but for me good lights are a winter cycling essential, not to mention a legal requirement.

To help you along your merry winter cycling way our friends at Evans Cycles have very kindly donated us a Cateye EL135 / T150 front and rear light set to give away to one lucky i b i k e l o n d o n blog reader!  These are great compact LED lights; they have a stationary and flicker mode meaning you can choose between lighting up the path ahead of you in darker corners, or drawing more attention to your presence on city streets.  The rear light is especially effective, comprising of 5 bright red LEDs.  Best of all they are easy to clip and unclip on to your bike and are lightweight for when you pop them in your bag.  Usually retailing at £34.99 all you have to do to be in with a chance to win these great bike lights is enter your details using the form below - the competition closes at midnight tomorrow, so spread the word and don't forget to take part!

I'll let you know after the competition closes whether you've been successful or not, and in the interim it's worth checking out the Evans Cycles website which has all the lights and winter cycling gear you could possible need.

Good luck!

Hi Kevin,

Sorry about this, I think the form is playing up with certain browsers.

If anyone, after pressing 'Submit Query' gets redirected to a page with an error message with the form below, please press 'Submit' on that page. You will then be re-directed to a 'Thank You' page back at the blog.

I knew the technology would get the better of me in the end!

Good luck everyone,

Mark

If you enter a space then a second name it doesn't work.

Just using your first name does work in the form.
