Freewheel to fantasy with BIKEMINDED and ride through the looking glass...

The good people at BIKEMINDED are putting on a bike tour with a difference this July and encouraging cyclists to go "through the loooking glass" with an immersive theatrical tour on two wheels.

Part of the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea's inTRANSIT arts festival, "Alice in Wonderland" promises to be a treat for all senses as the audience are lead around the borough's streets, parks and secret corners by bike, where the magical story will unfold.

On last year's Cake and Coffee Cruise with the BIKEMINDED team. It was exactly like it sounds - a tour of the cake shops of Kensington - my idea of heaven!

Produced by Exquisite Folly Theatre Company this is the first time that Lewis Carroll's well known story has been performed as a rolling, kinetic, bicycle-based show. Audience members can expect to indulge at the the Mad Hatter's Tea Party and come across familiar characters like the Cheshire Cat and the Queen of Hearts in corners of the Borough both well known and obscure. But this is no simple children's tale - forget any preconceptions you may have about Alice because this a dark interpretation of Wonderland which grows curiouser and curiouser as the story - and cycling tour - unfolds (Not suitable for under 11's!) Producer Amelia De-Felice explains:
“We are very excited to be working with Bikeminded again, following the successful ghost cycling tour we hosted for them last October... ..With the streets of the borough as our stage we can really let our imaginations run wild taking the audience into the realm of fantasy and give them a cycling experience they’ll never forget."

Here at i b i k e l o n d on we're always excited about different ways in which to explore and utilise our streets and public places and think this could be a fantastic way to explore a favourite corner of the city. And it's not often you get a unique central London theatre experience for £8 - it certainly beats lining up to go and see The Lion King. Again.

Alice in Wonderland will run from Wednesday 18th to Sunday 22nd July (times vary) Adult tickets are £8, children over 11 are £4. Tickets and further details are available on the BIKEMINDED website, here, as are details of their forthcoming film tours and musical mystery tours. Be sure to book quickly as these fantastic events suitable for all abilities of cyclists are selling out fast!
